From the President

September 2016

Harness • Connect • Engage

Dear PGGNE Members and Friends:

Our 40th (yes, you read that correctly!) season successfully launched on September 9th! I would like to extend a warm welcome to our first year members, along with a warm welcome back to returning members. The 2016-2017 season is off to a great start!

Next Meeting Date: Friday, October 14th

October is Marketing Month! Be sure to join us on Friday, October 14th at the Wyndham Hotel Beacon Hill at 10:00AM for networking; programming begins at 11:00AM. The Basics topic this month will be Marketing Bequests, whereas the Nuts & Bolts topic will be Multi-Platform Marketing. The Luncheon Presentation will be a panel discussion on the Marketing of Charitable Gift Annuities. Signup today!

Membership

Our membership drive is in full swing, and we are very excited to see so many familiar faces as well as getting to know the new ones! Veteran members and new members alike: Why not bring a colleague or your manager to the next meeting, allowing him/her to experience all the networking and other collaborative experiences PGGNE provides? If your membership has lapsed, why not take just few moments to renew and see what you’ve been missing?

Scholarship Application Deadline Extended to October 1st

Do you know anyone that could benefit from a PGGNE scholarship? PGGNE offers one new membership scholarship and one conference scholarship annually. This is an ideal opportunity for colleagues just launching a planned giving program, or anyone with limited resources looking to learn more.

Call for Speakers

Are you interested in sharing your expertise, experiences, and innovative approaches to gift planning? If so, PGGNE would like to hear from you! Contact Sam Samuels, PGGNE Programming Chair at 413.585.2694.

Call for Meeting Space Suggestions for Next Year

As announced at the September 9th Meeting, our contract with the Wyndam Hotel expires in May 2017, so we have a new opportunity to explore fresh ideas about meeting space in the Boston area. Does your organization have meeting space that may be suitable for PGGNE? We’d love to hear your ideas so please contact info@pggne.org with your suggestions.

Looking to explore best practices in charitable giving?

This year’s conference, on October 20th, will include opening remarks from Paul Grogan, President and Chief Executive Officer of The Boston Foundation, and a keynote address from Greg A. Shell, Managing Director, Bain Capital Double Impact Fund. Register and engage with professional advisors, family office leaders, non-profit professionals, and donors to share their experiences and discuss recent developments.

Leading by Example Conference

The Leading By Example conference series was developed by The Boston Foundation, Boston College and Ropes & Gray LLP to bring together thought leaders in the field of philanthropy and social impact, and provide them a forum for the vibrant exchange of ideas and best practices.

Looking forward to seeing you on October 14th,

Lynn Neligan
President, Planned Giving Group of New England
