From the President

January 2016

Harness • Connect • Engage

Dear PGGNE Members and Friends,

Are you are off to a fantastic start in 2016?  In the spirit of “new year, new experiences,” we kicked off 2016 with the first ever PGGNE Webinar featuring John Taylor of John H. Taylor Consulting. Campaign counting of planned gifts can be a complex topic, and John’s presentation provided a clear and detailed training on the topic. If you have questions about your own counting guidelines, John encourages you to contact him.  His website is: http://www.johnhtaylorconsulting.com/.

AND THE WINNER IS:

Allow me to congratulate John Lewis of Martz & Lundy who won the Dunkin Donuts gift basket for correctly guessing the weather for the day of the webinar. John – there are openings around the Boston media for gifted meteorologists such as you! Enjoy the coffee.

EXCITING INITIATIVES UNDERWAY:

The Board is convening a working committee of board members and others to create a strategic plan to serve PGGNE over the next five years. You’ll be hearing much more about their work in the months to come.

DON’T MISS THE “FEBINAR”:

Please join us Friday, February 5th  at 11 a.m. for our second and final webinar of the year on the art and science of prospect development. Katherine Swank from Blackbaud leads our discussion on “Data Bytes or Data Bites: Using Data for Planned Giving.” We know fundraising is all about relationships. Learn how prospect data and research can help you find more leads and develop more relationships.

BUILD YOUR NETWORK - HERE'S HOW:
My message as your president from Day One has been to proactively build your professional network and here’s your chance. “Harness, Connect, Engage” by reaching out to one or two PGGNE members in your geographic area and to watch the "febinar" together. Sam Samuels, Director of Planning at Smith College, reserved a meeting room at the college and with a couple of quick emails, he’s pulled together a diverse group of western MA members and non-members to watch the training together. I’m bringing the newest member of our Research team and my administrative assistant. It’s a no-cost professional development and networking opportunity for them both.

Thanks to Sam, my new word for 2016 is Febinar. What’s yours?

Cheers,
Katherine McKay
