From the President

February 2016

Harness • Connect • Engage

Hello PGGNE Members and Friends!,

I hope this email finds you well as we head into the back end of winter.

What did you think about the webinars in January and February? Your Board saw them as an opportunity to introduce a new medium that can include a wider audience. And yes, the February webinar date was a SNOW DAY so you could still connect with PGGNE but avoid the challenges of driving into Boston. We are planning on more webinars next year and are always open to your feedback and/or speaker suggestions.

A few thoughts and updates:

  • It will be fun to get together again! See you on Friday, March 4th at the Wyndham with an information packed program (see full schedule here) that includes a morning session targeting the rise of donor advised funds delivered by Alan Cantor, and a planned giving ethics presentation delivered by our old friend and former PGGNE president, Charlie Gordy from Harvard. The luncheon discussion focuses on complex assets presented by Oliver Ames from the law firm Casner and Edwards.
  • Save the Date! The All-Day Conference (and spring!) will be here before we know it. Save Friday, May 13th on your calendar and note our return to the Revere Hotel for this one day event.
  • The IRA Charitable Rollover provisions are permanent. This is a great reason to reach out to your donors over or approaching age 70 ½.
  • Know any potential new members? PGGNE is offering a two month Test Drive to those interested in either joining PGGNE or simply attending our exciting programs in March and April. The Test Drive costs $65.00 and provides admission to both days. Please spread the word among your colleagues and bring a friend.
  • Thank you to PG Calc for their generous sponsorship and superb assistance with the webinars. Special appreciation goes to Bill Laskin for moderating both webinars. And, of course, we are grateful to Crescendo for sponsoring the March meeting.

And finally, thank you all – the members of PGGNE. It is the relationships that we have with one another that make membership fun and enjoyable. I look forward to seeing all of you again in March, and I hope you enjoy the program sessions and being together again.

Sincerely,

Katherine McKay
