From the President

Dear PGGNE Members and Friends,

As we wind-down our 2014-15 PGGNE year, I have a to-do list for you:

  1. Sign up immediately for the May 6 All-Day Conference. It is going to be a great day starting with Russell N. James III, J.D., Ph.D., CFP, giving the plenary address, Inside the Mind of the Bequest Donor. Russell is a professor at Texas Tech University and will be sharing the results from his research into how donors engage in charitable bequest decision-making. Our luncheon guest speaker is Brian M. Sagrestano, JD, CFRE, the President of Gift Planning Development, speaking on Giving Patterns Among Generational Cohorts. You will not want to miss this day of learning. There is no better deal around for professional development that delivers such a high caliber of engagement.
  2. Encourage your colleagues to sign up for the Fundamentals program. It is no longer adequate to rely completely on a planned giving expert - all fundraisers need to be conversant in the basics of planned giving. The Fundamentals on May 5 will be an extremely worthwhile day for anybody interested in mastering the basics. Space is limited.
  3. Budget now for PGGNE 2015-16. If you have a budget cycle that ends soon and you need to sign up now for the fall, we can accommodate your budget to allow you to complete your application and pay at this year’s price level.

As you may know, the key to the high caliber of the PGGNE programming is the hard work of the Board. If you appreciate the hard work of your peers, please take a moment the next time you see them to let them know. All Board members will be wearing blue ribbons on their name tags at the May 6 Conference.

Additionally, at the May 6 Conference, you will have the opportunity to vote in a new PGGNE Board. The slate of nominees will be presented to the membership at the luncheon. Can you guess who will be returning for another year and who will be putting their hat in the ring this year for the first time? Members, be there to find out and exercise your voting right!
