Deerfield Academy, an independent co-educational boarding school, educating 615 students in grades nine through twelve, located in historic Deerfield, Massachusetts, seeks a senior development professional to play a key leadership role in advancing the School’s Alumni and Development mission. Reporting to the Associate Head of School for Alumni and Development, the Director of Capital Giving will oversee the overall operation of the Academy’s Capital Gifts Programs that includes 1000 identified major gifts prospects. The program’s director will manage, lead and direct Capital Giving staff, and personally manage an active portfolio of approximately 75 prospects. He/she will be a key member of the senior office team to develop long term strategies for full Alumni and Development programs.

The ideal candidate is a thoughtful, articulate and experienced advancement leader who will focus on the planning and implementation of a major comprehensive capital campaign with an anticipated public kickoff in the fall of 2011. Endowment is currently $315 million. We seek a person who is strategically oriented, knowledgeable about capital campaigns, enthusiastic, a team player, goal oriented and able to cultivate and secure Capital Gifts. 8+ years experience in development is required. Ability to effectively work with key volunteers, faculty, staff and trustees is essential. Ability to travel up to 25% annually is necessary. B.A. is required.
